Vietnamese Theravada Buddhism story:

Zen Master Bửu Chơn (1914–1979), a highly respected Theravada Buddhist monk, dedicated over a decade to ascetic practice in the remote mountains and forests of Cambodia. Upon returning to Vietnam in the 1940s, he began his studies at Buu Quang Patriarchal Temple. He was a founding member of the Vietnam Theravada Sangha and served as the Supreme Patriarch of its Provisional Board of Governors in 1957.

Throughout his life, Zen Master Bửu Chơn tirelessly propagated the Dharma, established temples, trained monks, translated sutras, authored books, and participated in international Buddhist conferences. His final mission was leading a delegation to Cambodia in 1979 to help restore Cambodian Buddhism and re-ordain eight monks after the Pol Pot genocide. Tragically, he passed away during this mission due to a longstanding illness.
